Surface Treatments for Metals

Like timber, most metals can be simply left to age without intervention. Mild steel will need surface protection to prevent oxidisation and there are a few methods which can be employed which are both decorative and utilitarian.

Hot Dip Galvanising

  • Our powder coating is always belt and braces approach a double coat system with a zinc rich primer and a second topcoat. Steel must be hot-dip galvanised and linished prior to coating to ensure perfect adhesion - minor pin-holing or outgassing bubbles can occur during curing. Moderate durability of 10 years however if damaged it will allow the substrate to corrode if it’s not galvanised before coating
