We were asked to realise designs for some seating for Stockton-on-Tees High Street – the widest in the UK. In order to achieve this we developed and produced one of the most complicated foundry operations we have used to date. The aluminium cast legs had an almost Esher quality to them and a detailed recessed pattern on some of the faces added to the intricacy. This called for complex moulds and careful casting processes. There were two elements to the Stockton project. A long curved wall mounted bench and several standalone benches and seats (with back and armrests). The geometric design of the bench and seat tops, in FSC® Cumaru, complimented the aesthetics of the bases and enabled the seating to be combined in varying configurations.
